Welcome to our new series ‘Get to know the artist’.
Here at the Laura I Gallery, we represent many artists and we are keen to show the wonderful talent behind our magical artworks!
Up second we have Claudiu Mircea Mladin who is a fine art painter specializing in figurative art, nature and still life photo realism, and crossovers between realism and street art. Inspiration comes to him from nature, wildlife and comic books, cartoons, and street art. He want to reflect on philosophical ideas as a background for promoting the purity and beauty expressed so bluntly in the entire natural life of our world.

“Although I began as a sculptor in childhood, I immediately embraced graphic art-drawing, preferring conceptual art and classical studies in draughtsmanship: anatomy, classical art study, and later developing into illustration and expressive graphic novel illustration and storytelling art. I continued further into painting, developing this graphic-pictorial style in oil and acrylics.
By bringing some of the world’s most iconic birds, resembling different iconic identities of our culture and society, I hoped to rekindle a long-forgotten connection to the wild and thus the metaphor is reflected in a fantasy of a paradisiac society expressing the same joy and drama we find in our culture.

Just ..FYI.. : – My Master’s degree in Fine Art focused on: Alchemical Symbols in the Gothic Tradition…. so you can imagine …I ‘tormented’ my Master’s professors with all my studies on alchemical symbols in the Gothic style, cathedrals, and unique locations, and how these symbols continued into the Italian Renaissance. I made a personal effort to study, visit, live, and breathe those places, traditions, and symbols—in Italy, Spain, France, Czechia, Vienna, Transylvania… and now London.
I lived in Italy, in France, in Vienna, and in Prague, so I could truly live and breathe all these secret identities within the art and centuries-old traditions imprinted on what we now call European culture. To discover the Italian Renaissance step-by-step, from town to town—from Verona and Padua all the way to Ancona and Senigallia—then from the ancient cities of Umbria, within the fortresses and castles of the Marche region, through the mystical caves near Fabriano, and on towards the mesmerising Assisi.
From the universities of Urbino to the Florence governed by the Medici, with the mysteries of Michelangelo and Leonardo, and passing through the testament of the arts in Rome, where three empires unveil their secrets directly to those who walk daily upon those same street stones, past those same fountains, sculptures, and secrets of the Etruscans, the Romans, and then of our own civilisation, from the Gothic and Renaissance periods… right up to today.

In my art studio on London-Canada Street, I continued to explore these concepts of archetypal truths in our lives through this imaginary world, transposed into the realm of birds. Being a great admirer of the ecological parks in the London area, I naturally developed a story – an initiatory adventure of symbolic friends (from the world of birds) within a fantastic world that always interweaves with precise London locations.
I have illustrated scenes from this initiatory journey in oils and then acrylics in my series ‘Superstars Identities’ and ‘Rainbow Box’, and later in ‘The Glory Celebrations from the Book of Life’.

[..] FYI
Even though I currently work in a design studio for an art & crafting company on Bermondsey Street (a job adjacent to the artistic world), I have the freedom to create my own design and illustration work, where I continue to explore the main themes of my artistic preoccupations. If we happen to meet, I’d show you… I’ve printed a whole catalogue of art-print design created over three years of exploring artistic illustration for the art & craft industry.”
