The confidence and personal significance gained from joy gives one a sense of being able to overcome difficulties and enjoy life. Joy is accompanied by short-term self-satisfaction, satisfaction with one’s environment and the world at large. Joy is a byproduct, not a direct result of thoughts and actions to achieve it.
