The heavily textured and vibrant acrylic appears mountainous on top of the dark background and this idea of rising above and out of pain is something that speaks to Laura’s personal life. Flowers are a persistent motif in Iosifescu’s works and real, delicate petals can be found hidden amongst the heavy paint layers. Having both the physical inclusion and artistic representation of flowers testifies for Iosifescu’s practice as a whole; to find artistic joy in the realities of the world, but also to memorialise this real world by abstracting it into colours, marks and textures; emotion through art.
