Description
It feels like peering through someone’s dream. A strange, hazy and blurry desolate land unfolds before us. A land where nature and humanity has become one. The figure is central to the painting and is attached to the flower, as if it was part of it and part of nature. The nature is slowly disintegrating and fading away, swept away by the wind, as if detaching itself from reality. The watercolour adds to this effect by diluting shapes and colours, melting everything away into the vast emptiness. The central figure is missing facial features which contributes to its enigmatic quality. They radiate a warmth and energy that permeates everything around them by turning them into these smoky shapes, hidden in the distance with clouds. There is a strong contrast between the darkness of the figure, and the colourful vibrant world around them. They simultaneously belong and don’t belong to this world. They are growing – like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly – and the power of their growth is infectious, radiating and contaminating the elements around them. The nature feels their birth and regeneration, reverberating this power while slowly effacing and letting go for something new.
