Description
A3 ink and acrylic on paper.
I’ve developed a fascination with how different people are immortalised (or not) after death.
Wandering round a cemetery gives a very simple reflection of social standing; small wooden crosses stand in the shade of monolithic marble tombs full of carved weeping figures and sad-faced angels. Delicate ceramic ovals show the faded faces of favourite Grandmas and simple loving words are etched into worn tombstones. Freshly cut flowers adorn the final resting place of some, whilst others grow their own flowers in straggly patches of untended weeds.
At A3 this is the largest illustration in an ongoing series. The background is three shining layers of gold acrylic.
