Description
Stranded on this tiny island as the waves envelop their last remaining sanctuary, the Stranger reflects upon their situation: “How did I get here?”. Their oddity and isolation echoes in the vast open air, the emptiness of the sea a constant reminder of their precariousness. The rising sea levels threaten to swallow them at any point, and invites them to jump in. They are stuck in this bubble or cocoon, perhaps trying to escape their situation by shutting out the world around them. Their pale and distorted body stands out against the colourful landscape, emphasising their despair and the sense that they don’t quite belong. The water reflects their emotional state, as if the pool around them had been created by their tears alone. The sky has a threatening quality to it. The clouds mirror each other on both sides, producing a cage-like effect on the Stranger. The Stranger is still well put together, seen through their perfect hairdo and face makeup, but devoid of clothes, a sign that their identity is slowly shedding away and they are left shivering in the cold.
