Description
Lily pads is an oil on canvas painting based on lily pads in a huge pond. This work relates to how people are not socially distancing anymore and how the virus has begun to multiply into bigger and new variants. The lily pads are represented as the variants growing together and forming new ones one after another. Another way this work is interpreted is how the trees are treated like barriers to stop the variants from entering the pond (represented as a country) while the lily pads are behaving like human-beings locked away in their habitat and abiding by the social distancing rules. This is inspired by one of Mauritius’s attractions: Pamplemousses and by one of Monet’s works ‘Water lilies, 1906’
