Agota writes: “On 26 December 2022, I went for a walk in my neighborhood. I live in an apartment block, but there are also natural areas of nature nearby: parks, meadows, woods. As I was sitting at the holiday table, I felt an inner call from my soul – go outside! And I did. Alone, as I like to do. That is when I feel most in touch with myself, the environment and the way I interact with the outside. I like that kind of introspection.
Thus, I prefer walking on unpaved or barely trodden paths. I tend to avoid asphalted roads. Walking on them makes me feel like I’m on a catwalk, like a product on a conveyor belt. Meanwhile, feeling the rough ground beneath my feet, the crunch of snow, the fragility of ice, I experience a living connection with the nature around me.
I can remember on that day, the second day of Christmas, there were only one or two people walking around outside. But they were walking on asphalt paths, so I barely encountered them. My gaze was on nature – stagnant, calm, covered in the white garment of winter. I paused and captured the scene in my mind – a frozen swamp in the middle, with two trees leaning over and lining up in the distance. I thought it was very idyllic. When I returned, I painted and titled it ‘Winter Vision’. “
