Kamila CK is an interdisciplinary Polish-British artist merging boundaries between Japanese Zen calligraphy (shodo), contemporary abstract painting and performance work (including dance and circus) in a contemporary art context.
Born in Poland,1985, Kamila CK has lived and worked in the UK since 2007. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Hospitality Management from Oxford, UK.
When she turned 30, Kamila decided to leave her full-time occupation to become an artist. Since then, she studied at Slade School of Fine Arts in London and completed a Professional Course in Circus Arts with AirCraft Circus Academy, London. She had the great fortune of studying the spiritual painting practice known as “shodo” in Japanese Zen calligraphy under Japanese teacher, Rie Takeda. This way of painting became a cornerstone in her artworks, which she combined with five years of performance practices including dance, trapeze, aerial hoop, and silks.
Her performance and visual works have been exhibited in London by Laura I Gallery and Bloomsbury Theatre as well as abroad including Florence Contemporary Gallery, Italy and NG Creative, France. Her works are held in private collections in the UK, US, France and Poland.
Kamila CK works and exhibits internationally. She lives with her husband in Lincoln, UK where she is opening a Design & Art Townhouse for the public to stay in.
